In its simplest form, straight edge is a philosophy of staying clean and sober: meaning refraining from using alcohol, tobacco, and recreational drugs. For some, this extends to not engaging in promiscuous sex, following a vegetarian or vegan diet, not using caffeine or prescription drugs.[1] The term was coined by the 1980s hardcore punk band Minor Threat in their song "Straight Edge."

I personally dont think straight edge needs to be so strict with rules about what you can and cant do. No sex no drugs no drinking is a little unrealistic , tho I don't think you should abuse or over do anything. I think the xxx life style is more about doing things in moderation. And further more the xxx "movement" has nothing to do with any of that in my eyes it's about the music. And not letting those three thing's effect shows and the way music impacts your life. For instance I dont goto shows to get laid or get fucked up I got for the music and friends and good times. There is nothing better then a room full of sweat, stage dives, loud music, banging heads and everyone in the room is stoked and happy and chillin, and you wont understand that feeling unless you've been there and had it.

I was "straight edge" for a few years I never said I would be xxx forever, but at that time in my life it really helped me with not getting involved with hardcore drugs or other things like many of my friends did. Im really big on moderation due to being straight edge. Tho now I "party" I'm never excessive and never will be. I dont need anything to have a good time its simply just a choice to drink or not to. As far as the NO sex goes I think its BS you can do what ever you want just dont go over board.

Straight edge has changed so much as a whole , it once was about music and moderation in my opinion and now they have xxx gangs and all kinds of bs, those kids suck get over it You can lead whatever kind of life you want and that awesome but who are you to tell someone else how to live their live. Some of my favorite bands are straight edge and I still hold a lot of respect for people that choose that life style.
